September Update

Dear Friends,

With a joyful heart I greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Thank you, for your commitments in supporting me with your prayers and your financial gifts.  Thank you, again for all of the great birthday cards gifts.  I am sorry that I did not write a thank you note to each of you personally for the many birthday cards and gifts you so kindly sent.  From 1 July to 3 September, I was out of the country doing my missionary duties more than I was at my home in the UK.

NEW VISA

Currently, I’m in the process of renewing my visa.  My student Visa is due to expire on 31 October 2005.  I plan to apply for a missionary visa, which I hope will be good  for four years, but I probably get it for only one year.  In order for me to get my Missionary Visa, I must send in with the application 335.00 pounds  (about $594.73) I am making this a project.  Please pray with me for this needed moneyer.

MISSIONARY SERVICE EXTENSION

Reminder back a year ago I had told you that I was extending my missionary service for three years?  Now, as of August, I am extending for long-term.  Wow that was a fast three years LOL.

Praise Report

While I was in Holland volunteering at the GO Conference, I met a cook from Canada who is working in Ireland.  I told him of the need LUKE has for a Catering Manager (cook).  I just recently found out that he would be coming to Luke temporarily on 1 October.

Seeking to know God’s will

While I was working on my job description, I realized that I can, and like to do, many things.  In the words my Pastor Steve Davis, I can do many things, but I need to narrow the focus to a few things. I’m seeking for God’s guidance in this matter.

Hospital chaplain

I started working at the Hospital Information desk upon my return to the UK two weeks ago.  The reason I’m starting out at the information desk rather than in the Chaplain Office is for training purposes.  I will learn the hospital, and they can learn who I am.  Latter on I will leave the information desk to go and work in the Chaplain Offtce.

Challenge Ministry

This week, I will start working with Mary Steven Centre.  Teaching visually impaired people to use the computer.

Prayer Request

  1. Pray for my new Missionary Visa.
  2. Pray for me as I seek for God’s will  in this ministry.
  3. Pray for LUKE financial situation.  A number of us at Luke are under-supported.

updae on Doug

Thank you for all of your prayers and for your words of encouragement.  Last Monday the 26 September I had they opportunity to go into the hospital's wards  to promote a hospital radio remote from the lobby of the hospital  While I was doing this I also had the opportunity which I had taken full advantage of was to talk with some of the patients.  I found i very interesting in that it seem to be a contests on who have been in the hospital the longest.  A number of them was in the hospital for as long as tens weeks and they did not know when they would be going home.  All I really could say was WOW, because I did not know what else to say.  This was a nice change from going on a search and recover mission for the wheel chairs. LOL
Today I had my first training session with the new students.  I think it went very well.  Over the next two days we Will be going out the streets to share Jesus.  Please keep this in your prayers.
     Thank you
